Official Entries to the Break Baking Day Event
Above are two pieces of the so called Spanish Bread. This is a very common type of bread that is available in most, if not all, bakeries in the Philippines. This is just like any other bun which uses breadcrumbs, sugar, vanilla and butter as filling.
Above are four pieces of our very own version of the Cheese Buns. Like the Spanish Bread, this is also very common in the bakeries in the Philippines. Cheese Buns are similar to ordinary burger buns but features melted cheese toppings.

Stressed is Desserts Spelled Backwards
Have you ever experienced arriving home very frustrated, tired and agitated? This is when you feel that you have so much burden in your life and just want to lie down to bed and forget everything. My friend, you are stressed.
People cannot simply avoid it.
Desserts on the other hand represent the end of every meal. These simple treats tent to extend the satisfaction or happiness every time we eat. In other words, by adding desserts as finishing touches, our meals become more pleasurable.
Try this experiment, whenever you are stressed, try to have a simple dessert or a treat. This will help you relax and feel better. This will put a smile on your face. As an anonymous writer would say, stressed is dessert spelled backwards, this is not a coincidence.

Bread Baking Day #28 Buns on The Sweet Pleasures
The Sweet Pleasures supports the Bread Baking Day (BBD) #28. This event is currently being hosted by Tangerine's Kitchen for the month of March. The Sweet Pleasures hopes to host its own Break Baking Day Event in the coming months. BBD is an event created by Zorra which exemplifies great themes monthly. For BBD #28 , the theme is Buns.
A bun is a bread sized small. It can be sweet or savory. Usually domed with a flat bottomed surface, it can be plain, filled or topped . It can also be steamed as in Chinese cuisines. Since easter is approaching and most homes would be making hot cross buns, this theme is apt for the month. So all that is required is to make buns. They could be sweet or savory, plain or filled. Fillings can be veg or non-veg. Or rather still you could just top the buns with candied fruits or just sugar. The possibilities are endless.
So just bake a bun/s from today until April 1. If you have a non-English blog, do send me a translation of your post and I will include it in the roundup. If you are a non-blogger, do mail me with the necessary details and your entries will be included.
Once you are done with the post, do send me an email at tangerineskitchen(at)gmail(dot)com with the following details:

Slices
There once was a boy who was very humble and obedient to his parents. He followed every order and every task to please them. He asked nothing more than two slices of cakes having the flavors of chocolate and vanilla. This little gift brought delight to the boy however, he only eats one of the slices. He never managed to even taste both. At first, his parents ignored this but year after year, this was the common scenario. The boy always asked the same gift for his birthday; grade school, high school and college graduation and other celebrations. This puzzled his parents for years but they were afraid that the boy might be offended if they asked the boy's reasons for this. The parents feared the consequences of confronting the boy. Everything appeared to be fine for all of those years, so they just ignored this. Until such time that the boy acquired a very serious disease, the doctors warned the parents to cherish every moment because the boy has only a few weeks left to live. They spent every moment in happiness and as usual, the boy asked for the same gift for every happy event. Still, the boy only ate one slice and left the other untouched. Finally, their parents decided to ask the boy his reasons for such a gift for so long during the time of his last minutes.t Sadly, the boy reached his final breath without even saying his reasons. Everything ended so fast. This haunted the parents for the rest of their lives. They never knew what was with those slices that kept the boy happy for all of those years. In addition, they were not able to know why the boy never touched the other half of the pair of cake slices.
What are the reason/s of the boy for such a gift? Which do you think among the two slices of cakes did the boy left untouched? Share your thoughts...

Wedding Cakes
A quote from James Thurber about wedding cakes is very intriguing. He says that the most dangerous food is the wedding cake. Wedding cakes are just like any other cakes for the ordinary man. But for the bride and groom, this cake becomes a symbol of an unbreakable bond that will last a life time. The design and eloquence of the cake is just secondary. What matters most is the way the cake is molded and formed. Although the wedding cake lasts for just one day, it becomes embedded in the lives of the witnesses especially to the ones who just got married. Share your thoughts... :D
